Celebrate hip hop's 50th anniversary with Sharon resident, Jon Mael, as he discusses his debut book Harlem World: How Hip Hop's Super Showdown Changed Music Forever. The story of the early days of the genre in Harlem and the Bronx as seen through the eyes of two of the biggest underground crews of all time, Harlem World is an exciting dueling biography leading up to one of the most significant rap battles of all time on July 3rd, 1981. 

Jon Mael is a high school teacher and reporter, and proud Sharonite. He has written for the Boston Globe, the Boston Herald, and ESPN.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase/signing by the author after the program.
