The 1849 murder of Dr. George Parkman in Boston remains on of the most sensational trials of the 19th century, establishing for the first time, the legal principle of proof "beyond a reasonable doubt," which was later adopted by every other state in the nation. This case was also the very first in the country to allow forensic evidence into evidence at trial. 

This program is presented by Hon. Dennis J. Curran, Justice, Massachusetts Superior Court (Ret).
